NEW YORK -- The section's biggest winner and losers this weekend were in the spotlight leading up to the Belmont, the third and decidedly most lowbrow leg of the triple crown of horse racing.

Kiernan Laughlin’s stock was the best performer on the HBS 900, with shares up nearly 20% after bringing his sister to section festivities.

"We've seen equities humbled over the last six weeks," said McLaughlin, an associate brand manager with Unilever. "So I saw this as an opportunity to regain some momentum. And the knowledge You Ning Sun was not planning to attend the event gave me some comfort.”

Shares of Eric Teel got a 10% boost after the reinsurance wildcard delivered second-semester results that topped analysts' expectations, thanks to securing a job as well as a sweet West Village apartment at the last possible minute.

Oil futures trader and speculator Mark Yocum claimed he had confidence in Teel stock all along. In related news, Yocum is under investigation for insider trading.

Meanwhile, Tehmina Haider released her full-year forecast, announcing that she does not plan to visit NYC for the next two weekends. Shares of Haider slid 2%.

Alex Bochicchio ended the session flat following heavy trading. Negative news regarding a failed beverage product launch contributed to an early tumble; however the stock rallied following rumors Bochicchio was asked out by a Red Mango employee.

According to her facebook feed, brand associate and frozen yogurt aficionado Kusum Chanrai liked this development, provided Red Mango offers product in kiddie-sized cups.

"We've had six straight weeks of down for stocks, so any type of positive news is going to help," said Valerie Galinskaya from Bloomberg TV. "Right now we're getting a little bit of a bounce from the news that Zane Chrane is back from Cancun and ready to spend a ‘significant amount of his future net worth' this weekend.”
